…About The Discriminating Collector
In addition to featuring the art works of California Impressionist Robert W. Jensen, this web site will be providing veteran collectors all over the world with a new source of historic original prints, i.e. lithographs, etchings, engravings, serigraphs, and other media that we have been collecting for more than forty years. Our collections are primarily in the 19th and 20th centuries, but some items date back as far as the 1500s.
When we use the phrase "veteran collectors," we don't mean to exclude anyone who is just beginning to discover the joys of collecting. And for any newcomers to the field, we have provided some interesting information about collecting in another part of the site. (You can click here to go there now if you like - What is an Original Print? Some of the Terms we use defined.)
For book lovers, our library which is bursting at the seams from being added to for some four decades is now being catalogued and will be offered for sale. There are just a few books ready for sale as we launch the site. More will be added all the time.
Porcelains, ceramics and bronze sculptures are yet another area of our interest, and so we will be presenting a number of these items over the coming months. And of course, there will be unique collectibles.
All of this takes a great deal of time, cataloguing, photographing, and preparing the material for the web, so items will be added periodically, as we accomplish the tasks.
For that reason, we hope those of you who visit the site, will register so that we may notify you when we add new items, be it a new collection of Jensen paintings, antiquarian books or prints, or objects d'art. And meanwhile, if you are looking for something specific that you don't see on the site yet, e-mail us with your query and we'll see what we can find.
A few words about our "Product Search" function. You can type in the name of a book, an author, or an artist's name, and you should get whatever material we have available. Eventually, when there are thousands of items on the site, we may to refine the search methods, but for now, this should work for you.
